ANOTHER SPECIAL WELCOME
TO ALL OUR 290 MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND THOSE THAT MAY WANT TO BE UNION

CONSTRUCTION WORKER ASSISTANCE
I
am creating this section following my Local Unions establishment of
a Volunteer Organizing Committee. I will NOT list any contractor
that there may be an organizing campaign on which there may be a
campaign attempted, but I shall give any person visiting, a listing
of what their employer can and cannot do during a campaign, against
an employee that wishes to Unionize.
A
place where a non-union worker can access the “TRUTH” about what
it means to change from being an “exploited” construction worker,
to being a Construction professional in their own chosen field.
I
may not have all the answers on this blog, but I will attempt to
provide a competent place to find them.
I
am a second generation and almost 40 year member of the United
Association of the Plumber's, Steam and Marine Fitters Local Union
290 here in Portland, Oregon. Our family has over 430 years
belonging to this organization. I have served my Local Union as The
Vice President, as a Business Agent/Organizer, as the first President
of the combined Statewide Union; Local 290 whose geographical
jurisdiction ranges North and South from SW Washington to Northern
California, and West and East from the Pacific Ocean to Malhuer
County in Oregon, and represents over 4,000+- worker's in the
Industry. And I served 17 years as Executive/Secretary Treasurer of
the Columbia Pacific Building and Construction Trades Council,
AFL-CIO which is a coalition of Construction Union's in SW Washington
and N.W. Oregon that represent close to 12,000 worker's in all
facet's of the construction industry.
I
will also attempt to provide some background history of the
A.F.L.C.I.O., it's structure and department's, and their
contributions to our society.

KAISER – M.S. REPORT:
My
B.P. today
is 125/81/64 at 7:40am, pretty good because I think I got almost 11 hours of sleep last night. I am Still
waiting to hear from Kaiser on my bed, among other things, I did get
over to Kaiser and the Lloyd Center Pharmacy and picked up most of my
pills, they cost almost $100 and I still have one to order yet.
POLITICAL:
I
HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT HEARING ON THE JUSTICE
DEPARTMENT. I HAVE LEARNED A NUMBER OF VERY IMPORTANT THING'S. 1) I
WAS PRETTY SURE BEFORE, BUT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS LEAD BY A BUNCH
OF RACIST'S HYPOCRITES (ATTACKING THE THE PRESIDENT AND THE ATTORNEY
GENERAL, WHO JUST HAPPEN TO BE BLACK) 2) ATTACKING THE “SAFETY
NET”, MOST ALL OF THE PROGRAMS THAT KEEP PEOPLE OUT OF POVERTY, A
MAJORITY WHO HAPPEN TO BE PEOPLE OF COLOR OR OLD. 3) BLAMING
PRESIDENT OBAMA AND ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDER FOR A MURDER THAT
HAPPENED, DUE TO A PROGRAM STARTED UNDER REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT GEORGE
W. BUSH, AND FINALLY STOPPED UNDER THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION. HMMMN
I
must also say we have much to do before the November elections, but I
will also say, as a life-long Democrat; it does appear we will have a

congress so far has brought the wrath of “bush's brain” carl
rove, and he is going to have a heck of a fight right here in
Clackamas County, it seems we are the headquarters for the “TEA
PARTY”, and I don't mean the Take Everyone Along people.

UNITED STATES CONGRESS ! I have known, and been his constituent since
his entry into Congress, at least until this year, and his service to
his constituency, and the State of Oregon; IS exemplary.

May the hope that St. Jude keeps alive in my heart be a source of comfort to all those who grieve. For in that hope, we know God's mercy, and we trust God's promise of eternal life. Is it wrong to expect

I PICKED UP A BOOK A FEW WEEKS AGO
AT THE CHURCH LIBRARY, “BECOMMING MORE LIKE CHRIST”, it is a
basic guide to daily prayer and meditation and it has been uncanny in
the assistance it has given me almost daily.
I BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST
WAS THE FIRST “TRUE” COMMUNIST, BECAUSE I BELIEVE HE WAS THE
FIRST TO SAY; EVERYTHING “BELONGS” TO EVERYONE. In that same
vain does that not include healthcare?
AND I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS WOODY
GUTHRIE THAT ACTUALLY WROTE “GOD BLESS AMERICA”, ONLY IN HIS
VERSION IT WAS GOD BLESSED AMERICA. HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP
JULY 14TH, LET'S ALL THROW A PARTY FOR AN EARLY 99%' ER, I MAY BE
WRONG BUT THE FIRST MIGHT HAVE BEEN A REPUBLICAN, BY THE NAME OF

UNION REPORT:
I JUST STARTED THE PROCESS OF BUILDING MY “FOR PROFIT” WEB SITE AND I ALREADY HAVE 1 JOINER.
I did go to that AFL-CIO meeting on the “cool schools” program at the Labor Council office that Joe Esmonde asked me to and I thought it very interesting. I was disappointed that two of the three key construction Union's didn't make it, the U.A. And the Sheet Metal Workers. We were told that the presentation and taped “minutes” would be made available to all.
We need to remember Brother Jimmy Walters, Brother Bill Edens (who looked pretty good at the retiree meeting); and Brother Sonny Newsom who are recovering from surgeries and Brother Jim Zettlow who is fighting Mesothelioma, and brother Dennis Hutzenbieler who is recovering from Heart Surgery, for a speedy and successful recoveries so please add them to your prayers, and the family of Brother Jack Sundstrom.
PERSONAL &
PROPAGANDA:
I am also in the
process of designing my own “for profit” business. “WALLY'S
LIST”, and I DID get in touch with Good Friend and W.O.W. Woman Liz
Schuler to make sure I get it right.
I am still working on correcting
mistakes, not all of these are mine you know!
IT STILL APPEARS I NEED AN ELECTRICIAN AS THE POWER IN THE KITCHEN WENT AWAY AGAIN :-( .
I will continue my bragging. I
received an email from my cousin Dan Hutzenbieler, who was at a Labor
Law Conference in Chicago and met good friend, IBEW Sister, and
Secretary Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Liz Shuler; whom you may notice is
one of the “W.O.W.” women I have on my front page.
I
awoke this morning at 6:30am to a 2+, after 10+- hours of sleep. I
took my pills at 7:30am, including my new Wellbutrin, 5 day's so far;
all prayers appreciated.
Dennis appears to be recovering nicely, showing off that massive scar on his chest.

Thanks to all of you for thinking
of and praying for Dennis.. I just left the hospital and he is doing
great! He is off all the IV's now and Had his first shower and says
he feels like a new Man :) I think he will probably be ready to come
home either Wed or Thursday!!! :)

ALSO, THERE IS A “SUMMER PICNIC” FOR GRADUATES, FAMILY AND FRIEND'S OF CARROLL COLLEGE HERE IN PORTLAND ON JULY 16TH AT MT. TABOR PARK (SE 60TH AND SALMON ST.) 6PM. I SHOULD CALL UNCLE HANK AND SEE IF HE KNOW'S ANYONE THAT MAY BE ATTENDING?
