ANOTHER SPECIAL WELCOME
TO ALL OUR 290 MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND THOSE THAT MAY WANT TO BE.
OREGON AND WASHINGTON CONSTRUCTION
WORKER ASSISTANCE
I am creating this blog following my Local Unions
establishment of a Volunteer Organizing Committee. I will NOT list
any contractor that there may be an organizing campaign on which
there may be a campaign attempted, but I shall give any person
visiting, a listing of what their employer can and cannot do during a
campaign, against an employee that wishes to Unionize.
A
place where a non-union worker can access the “TRUTH” about what
it means to change from being an “exploited” construction worker,
to being a Construction professional in their own chosen field.
I
may not have all the answers on this blog, but I will attempt to
provide a competent place to find them.
I
am a second generation and almost 40 year member of the United
Association of the Plumber's, Steam and Marine Fitters Local Union
290 here in Portland, Oregon. Our family has over 430 years
belonging to this organization. I have served my Local Union as The
Vice President, as a Business Agent/Organizer, as the first President
of the combined Statewide Union; Local 290 whose geographical
jurisdiction ranges North and South from SW Washington to Northern
California, and West and East from the Pacific Ocean to Malhuer
County in Oregon, and represents over 4,000+- worker's in the
Industry. And I served 17 years as Executive/Secretary Treasurer of
the Columbia Pacific Building and Construction Trades Council,
AFL-CIO which is a coalition of Construction Union's in SW Washington
and N.W. Oregon that represent close to 12,000 worker's in all
facet's of the construction industry.
I
will also attempt to provide some background history of the
A.F.L.C.I.O., it's structure and department's, and their
contributions to our society.

Prayer to St. Jude for
Eternal Life
You are my solace, St. Jude, in the face of loss and sorrow. I pray that you will guide my heart away from the darkness of fear and into the light of Christ. May the hope that St. Jude keeps alive in my heart be a source of comfort to all those who grieve. For in that hope, we know God's mercy, and we trust God's promise of eternal life. My soul longs for the fullness of life, which is only to be revealed when I meet my Maker in heaven. Stay by my side, St. Jude, so that my soul will always know the power of your healing love. Amen.

For sister Danni, nephews Steve & Daniel, sister Clare, cousin Mick, aunt and uncle Dorthy and Hank, nephew Aaron, Kelly's brother, Brother Bruce Temple; good friend and brother Jeff Lyles, Brother Jimmy Walters, Brother Bill Edens, Brother Sonny Newsom, brother in law Eric's mother and their speedy recoveries, good friends Ron Wyden, Pat O'baby, the families of brother Charlie Miles, brother Jay Myron and Jill Thorn and those who are having health issues; protecting Christopher, Rhyon and Amy and all in need. We need to remember Brother Jimmy Walters, Brother Bill Edens (who looked pretty good at the retiree meeting); and Brother Sonny Newsom who are recovering from surgeries and Brother Jim Zettlow who is fighting Mesothelioma, so please add them to your prayers for a speedy and successful recoveries.
PERSONAL &

I am still correcting mistakes.
I will continue my bragging. I received
an email from my cousin Dan Hutzenbieler, who was at a Labor Law
Conference in Chicago and met good friend, IBEW Sister, and Secretary
Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Liz Shuler; whom you may notice is one of
the “W.O.W.” women I have on my front page.
I
awoke this morning at 6am to a 2+ after 9+- hours of sleep, and took
my pills at 7:15am. Judi and I did go to the new "Men in Black" in 3d movie yesterday and while it was very good, I felt you would enjoy it just as much without the 3d.
