Now back to my regular blog:

I awoke this morning, to a murder of crows on the west deck; at 7am and awoke to a 3, with no back pain; took my am pills and put out my flag. I am not sure when I will post as I have a few more errands to run to get ready for the convention. I did get out to the store yesterday and found some pant's and sock's, and I will head over to “the good feet store” and get some new shoe's and maybe another pair of sock's and shoes. I then need to get to the ankle brace store and get my brace readjusted. I also have a few test's (see the vampire) to get at Kaiser. I may also head over to get lunch with brother Mike. I am also going to pack my Fr. McManus book to take to the convention, and try to get it signed by our very own McManus. I found my 20th anniversary BULL SESSION book and I will have it for the August Union Meeting for Dave S., as I have it in the car already. Judi is out for her walk getting ready for the “Hood to Coast”. I still need to get hold of Ed Ellis and let him know, my initial payment should be considered a donation and I need to let John know I will not be making the auction and I still need an afternoon start. Again this is worth repeating, Mary Nolan has put her hat in the ring for the Amanda Fritz position on the City Council and based on my experience with her Mary is another candidate that deserves our support. I understand President Obama has an agreement on the debt ceiling, I just hope he did not give up too much to get it. I did get my U.A. Journal and they had an article in it about a family with over 170 years of UA membership. Very impressive, but our family will be sending over 2 centuries of UA membership, just to the Convention.

I will put the prayer to St. Jude in here again for good friend and brother Portland City commissioner Randy Leonard, the Jan Brasee family, and the Bill Goetsch family and all our 290 brothers and sisters that have come before us and built Our 290 into the organization I am so proud to have been a member of, for almost 40 years.

I know I still have been repeating things, apparently too much, on my blog; but some of this stuff I need to be reminded of and some of this stuff others need to be reminded of.

KAISER AND M.S. REPORT:

Saving space so I will just report I am still waiting for the “reimbursement's” for the amount above my regular co-payment, and Kaiser not only ignores its members, its customers, but the government; so my picketing continues and it at least has been getting positive responses while picketing at their building on MLK blvd, and that Red Robin, and their employees; across the street have been very supportive.

My B.P today is 142/75/66 at 9:30am, a little high but probably from my shopping yesterday and being ignored in 3 of the 5 stores I went to. I found out how the “Men's Wharehouse” guy can guarantee it in his ads, their staff, does not serve anyone!

POLITICAL:

Entitlement YOUR ass , I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because THEY "borrowed" the money , doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout !! Congressional benefits: aka. "free" healthcare , outrageous retirement packages , 67 paid holidays , three weeks paid vacation , unlimited paid sick days , now that's welfare , and they have the nerve to call my retirement entitlements.

I SURE HOPE THE PRESIDENT DIDN'T GIVE AWAY THE FARM, BEING THAT THE DEFICIT PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THE (REGULAR, WORKING CLASS AMERICAN) IS PAYNG TOO LITTLE IN TAXES AND THEY HAVE TOO MANY TAX BREAKS.

TOM NOVICK AND MARY NOLAN ARE MY PICKS FOR PORTLAND CITY COUNCIL. MARY NOLAN, FOR ONE REASON, I AM FARTHER ALONG IN THE FATHER McMANUS AND I HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE AMANDA FRITZ ANIMOSITY AGAINST THE IRISH.

Joining Forces: As part of the Obama Administration's commitment to America's military families, the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden launched their Joining Forces initiative, which will bring together all sectors of American society to lend a hand to military families, I have seen a few of their adds and they were very well done.

AOH REPORT:

Not much new to report on the “Unite Ireland” issue, but I will report that cousin Bob has a new daughter and I'm sure cousin brother Tom M. must be pleased with her name, and the little gift I got from MONTANA AOH, cousin Bob. Cousin Dan is writing a book on the Monahan and Mehren's families and I know, new great Aunt Bobbie is elated also, and brother Tom was already aware we are related. I am looking forward to our International Convention to see if our Assistant to the U.A General President, a U.A. brother by the name of Mark McManus is in any way related to Father Sean? I still haven't got the names down for that 15 year AOH picture yet. The Portland AOH face book page is up and does look good; so now others can find out we exist and I made many friend suggestions and I do hope they can post the 15year anniversary picture, WITH NAMES. We will be taking the summer off and not meeting again until September which, it appears; I will have to miss as it is my Union Meeting night, but they will have a special guest that I would love to meet, and based on my July and August it looks like I won't be able to make a meeting until October.

I still think we need a few OREGONIANS on Father McManus's “Congressional Friends” list. We must never forget the Ballymurphy Massacre of 1971, (40 years searching for justice). We need to realize along with a number of Irish Catholic's, including a priest that were assassinated that day there were also a number of Northern Irish Protestants. This battle for justice that is being waged here in the U.S.A. by father McManus is also being waged in Belfast Northern Ireland by a heroic Belfast protestant named Raymond McCord Sr., whose son was also assassinated. I have received Father McManus's book, but AOH President Bill want's to save passages for the September meeting and that works for me, I have read even more of it and I am beginning to understand the commissioner Fritz Animosity. I did send Father McManus a check to join his efforts and he sent me a thank you and I am now a Congressional friend of Father McManus.

SPORTS:

I am watched the IRISH OPEN yesterday that was played at Killarney golf and fishing club, I wonder how many Monahan's were in the gallery?.

I did see that the Portland Timbers are selling individual tickets, and maybe we (AOH) can get an “Irish Appreciation Night fundraiser at Jeld Wen field? They are at very reasonable prices.

I seems like the weather still hasn't made up it's mind on whether summer is here and I hope to have some golf, and picketing weather.

My baseball reports will be limited to, the Mariners, of the AL W, the Orioles, of the AL East; and it IS next year for the Cubs.

The American Rights at Work still needs help; now more than ever. We must not take our eye off that MAIN issue, our two Senators haven't; E.F.C.A. And based on what I have been seeing and hearing, the Republicans have Organized Labor directly in their cross hairs at least for the next 2 years.

LOCAL UNION REPORT:

THE 290 WEBSITE IS REALLY HEATING UP POLITICALLY AND I HAVE RECIEVED MANY COMMENTS ON MY 290 POST.

I DID TAKE THE “RAT PATROL” BUTTONS TO THE JULY MEETING, AND I DID GET AN E-MAIL FROM JOHN AND HE SAID HE WANTED TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE CONVENTION TO START THE VOLUNTEER ORGANIZING COMMITEES.

I did post this on the “our 290” site.

Al Schropshire contacted me and asked to put my endorsement for Business Manager on his election web page, I told him I would be honored and he gave me one of his fliers at the meeting; WELL DONE. I am more convinced than ever he is the right person for the job. His statement to me that he was running for the membership, not running AGAINST LOU, showed me a lot of class.

I did get my first “election” flier from the “Hite Alliance”, and while I haven't officially joined, I do like the team he has put together but brother Mike told me it appears he may have competition.

Thanks again to all my Sisters and Brothers for electing me again to attend this year’s International Convention, (6 days away) and thanks for your generous support of The Oregon Military Support Network. I am still committed to taking our concerns regarding Harder Mechanical use of “Craig’s List” and other scams to recruit workers, I believe it is in direct violation of their Local and National agreements.

The Local is doing a M.A.P. Fundraiser for positions in the BULL, like we did last year; and the website link is fixed. I did remember to put my 20 year BULL anniversary book in the car so I have it for the next union meeting, as Dave Stahley said the are many who do not know what the BULL is.
