Smith update and replay:

I didn’t think Gordon Smith’s campaign could get any nastier, but the pollsters have put Merkley ahead, and nastier it gets. I’m still waiting for a response from Smith or his office concerning a letter I supposedly sent him at least 3 Month’s ago. I got a really nice letter from him, thanking me for writing him on the energy issue. I’ve searched and searched for that “letter” I supposedly sent him but I could not find it. I’ve asked him, by e-mail and USPS if he would provide me a copy. I have 4 conclusions to draw from this. 1) Because of his campaign he’s been too busy to respond. 2) He received an automatic e-mail response from a ”PUSH-PULL” poll I took earlier this year. 3) It doesn’t exist. 4) I sent my inquiries to Washington D.C., and we all know how thing’s get lost or deleted there. HMMM

The Market’s back up but so is OIL. The Senates in session, but not the House. The news showed Blumenhauer and Baird getting off the plane last night. I’m thinking they will be having some interesting meetings with their Main Street America folks.

GET 'ER DONE

I am writing you today to ask you to get on with it!

The Market closed over 777 points down today. I’ve been watching Cspan and the Market all morning. What is clear is that the Republicans along with some Democrats scuttled the negotiated bailout. The Paulson plan IS unacceptable. I think it was his attempt to protect his golden parachute from Goldman Sachs. And I think it was Bush’s attempt to freeze up congressional ability to work with the new President (hopefully Obama) in January. I am sure this is not something you haven’t considered. While I don’t live on Wall street or Main street, I do know something must be done. GET ‘ER DONE.

I am sending this to every politician and organization I have an email address or phone number for.

Help me out, please.

Judi's Home.

PERSONAL

Awoke 7:15am, back ache, day starts 2 ¾,

Obama Rises, McCain Falls in New Poll

(Sept. 28) - Barack Obama leads John McCain, 50% to 42% among registered voters in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday -- just one point shy of his strongest showing of the year.
These results, from Sept. 25-27, span the time period since John McCain made the announcement that he was temporarily suspending his campaign and returning to Washington to work for a bipartisan solution to the financial crisis, and since Congressional leaders first announced progress towards the resolution of a financial bailout bill.

From Move on Sunday Great. I can tell from your nodding head that you agree. Now, let's make it happen—by helping three champs win tight, crucial races: Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Larry Kissell of North Carolina, and, ahem, Al Franken of Minnesota.

I got a personal email notice to watch before the VP debate. Listen to Cafferty file 1st’ then the Hypocrisy one, it will take a while.

1. Sarah Palin and Republican Hypocrisy

2. Jack Cafferty (CNN) on Sarah Palin Interview with Couric

I’ve been watching the Market and Cspan all morning. The House on Cspan1 set aside 3 hours for debate on the “bailout bill”, it took 4 hours and 15 minutes. The 15minute vote took almost 40 minutes. Pelosi promised at least 140 D votes and Boehner promised 70 R votes for the negotiated “Bailout Bill”. Pelosi got to 141 but Boehner could only get to 66. At the close of debate Boehner asked his Republican colleagues to “Look into their soul”, apparently only 66 could find one. It failed 205/228. While watching the debate and vote the market was down 500 ponts, and OIL was down $9.00.

Did they get 'er done?

POLITICAL

The House and Senate are working this weekend to save our Economy.
GET 'ER DONE!

9/27/08 on Cspan at 1:15 pm Senator Gregg made a press statement on the Finance Bill negotiations. He sounds optimistic. Republicans are getting rid of any participation from Unions.

Could Bush, Paulson, Wall Street & the Republicans be considered "Terrorists"?

Republicans seem to get too much delight in not referring to the Democratic Party or officials as members of the Democratic Party or Democratic Majority. They seem to prefer the Democrat Party or Democrat majority. I’m sure I’m not the only that this irritates. They even tried to change all those references at their Party’s convention. Maybe those members of the Democratic Party in DC should start referring to those in the Minority Party, as those in the Minor Party?

SPORTS

9/27/08 DUCKS were up by 14, 3 minutes into the game. I feel sorry that the Cougs had to face them this week. In 1st Quarter it was 21 to 0, not even close. At 1/2 time, it was 35 to 7. In the 2nd Quarter the Cougs looked better, but not good. Duck fans should have watched Comcast channel 37, the Coug fans should have watched Comcast channel 34. Final Score 63 to 14.
I think they are trying to make a statement to the Beavers and the Trojans.

The Cubbies have the best record in the National League. GET 'ER DONE!
The Dodgers have Maddox and Ramirez.
The Mariners have the Nationals, saving them from the worst record in baseball.

GO CUBS GO

I reset my Fantasy Football Lineup and I’m now favored by almost 50 points. Beware of the Jinx.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2008

POLITICAL

On 9/26/08 the DOW was up 124+ / OIL down to 107.10

On 9/26 cnbc was reporting McCain going to the Debate. Also reporting that US Unemployment rate is 6%+ Wall Street Unemployment is 4%.

Cspan had Earl Blumenhauer on the Tax Bill, HR 1507. The Republicans can't take yes for an answer. On the Economic Stimulus package. Doc Hastings (R-W) wants to amend it. When time ran out on ordering the Previous Question the R's won by 25+. 5 min. After vote was closed, Democrats were ahead 209/202.
Kucinich questioned what count is official. Apparently does not know how to verify how he's voted. Temporary Speaker explained there are 46 stations on the floor any member can check.

Congressman Obey was carrying HR 7180, and requested unanimous consent to include Rural schools amendment. Republican Lewis of California objected, he doesn't like process. All Democrats should get their speeches. Peter Defazio pointed out the Republicans hypocrisy. Rosa Delauro & Oberstar support bill. Lewis could not find another Republican to support his position. We should check on Waldens vote. House & Senate will be working the weekend.

The Republicans seem to delight in not calling anything Democratic and changing Democratic to Democrat this and Democrat that. They even tried to change the Party name at their Convention, until someone pointed out that it was the legal name of the party.
I think the democrats should start refering to them as the Minor Party instead of the Minority Party.

SPORTS

GO CUBS GO' This IS the year.
No Yankees, no Red Soxs no Sox's at all.
How about them Beavers!

PERSONAL

I watched some of the debate last night. Obama backers had a lot of debate watching parties last night, I was impressed with the number within 15 miles of my house. We were not an official watching party but we watched some of it. With 5 construction workers and one active National Guardsman, I'm pretty sure Obama has 6 votes.

It's been some time since I went/had an all male card party, but I don't remember all that bragging on their kids.

I'm still waiting for someone to bring me an Obama & Merkley lawn sign.

I had my card tournament last night. It broke up at about 11pm. At least I had a good time. Thanks to my LazyBoy massage chair, and the competition, I did not need any pain pills. In spite of the long day yesterday, the day finished as a 4 and today started as a 3+.

I spoke with my sister this morning. She sounded GREAT. Still pretty sore, but slept well last night.

I spoke with Judi at 10 this morning, woke her up. I hope she's, at least, still winning at Canasta. They should be home tommorrow, have safe trip.

Welcome to the weekend

POLITICAL

On 9/25 Obama was on Cnbc, Market was up 200 points. Obama was by satellite as he was at the Clinton Global Conference.

On Cspan1 they have HR 928 an Inspectors General bill, also Greg Walden was fuming, Ranting on Government Timber payments to counties being forgotten in new tax bill.

12:15pm On Cspan1 there were reports that the House & Senate reached agreement on Bush Financial Plan.

1pm DOW up 190+ 11,022.06 / OIL up to 107.57

At 1:15pm on Cnn they reported on the meeting with Bush at the White House. Table locations were interesting; everybody was smiling except Bush & Cheney. Blitzer's main comment was they had no food provided just coffee. Also Pakistan is shooting at us.

At 4pm GM announces new plant in Flint Michigan, to build Volt, a new gas & electric car.

On 9/26 Market was down 60+, back below 11,000, & OIL was at 105.14. Then went up to over 11,007+, Then cnbc showed GOP caucus meeting getting over, as Bayner & Gregg were talking market back went down below 11,000 again.

4pm GM announces new plant in Flint Michigan, to build Volt, a new gas & electric car.

In a NY Times Editorial: American's need to wake up. Today you are about to witness the biggest coup of this political season by none other than lying John and the republicans. The whole debate scuffle with McCain was a political stunt, so McCain could fly in on a White carpet having saved the entire country from economic ruin. John McCain and his cronies are scheming to pull the wool over voter’s eyes yet again.

PS John McCain had not even read the Paulson 3 page plan as of Tuesday and it was given to him last Friday. Thanks Mary Ellen.

RALLY'S

POLITICAL

9/24/08 at 10:50am on Cspan1 the House passed 2009 Federal Spending Bill rules 228/202, then passed a 2009 Defense Bill 392/39, 34 democrats voted no?

At 11am on Cspan1 Congressman Murtha was carrying DOD continuing authorization through March 09 vote and encouraged a yes vote. Congressman Lewis (R) did not like "process", DRILL,DRILL,DRILL. Retiring (R) from Florida is concerned because this bill out source’s NASA to Russia in 2010.

At 12:35pm in a Cnbc Headline “McCain suspending campaign to go to DC for Bailout talks. He suggests "postponing Friday's Debate". At least Headline News (cnn) gave Obama credit for contacting McCain first and for suggesting a Joint Statement.

At 1pm on Cspan1 Congressman Neal (D Mass.) was carrying HB 7005 on AMT Patch Tax Bill. Republican supporters stated the reason an AMT patch is needed now is because it's Clinton's fault. No (R) spoke against Bill. Last year the patch bill passed with 352 votes. Vote postponed at request of Neal, he wants the R’s on record. Then the Disaster Relief Tax Bill was taken up. Congressman Conyers was carrying it.

John Kerry emailed me that the market crisis has shown that our economy is in need of fundamental reform. We need to get a large progressive majority in Washington so that we can bring about real changes in our economy, changes that set the rules of the road so that hard-working Americans can get ahead in our economy.

I got an email last night from Brad Avakian, Oregon’s Labor Commissioner, he was asking for help to turn this economy around, he is going to need help. That's why He is supporting Jeff Merkley for Senate and Barack Obama for President. On Thursday, He invites you to join him and State Treasurer Randall Edwards at an economic forum to discuss how Senator Obama's economic plan will help Oregon's working families.

The forum will start at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 25 at Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change Headquarters at 3016 SE Division Avenue in Portland. If you will be in the area, I hope you can make it. If not, be sure to help spread the word.

Our friends at True Majority are leading the way for over 20 different groups including MoveOn, USaction, and ACORN to name just a few. They organized the events, now we need to turn out and help make the events a success.

POLITICAL

On cspan 9/23/08, Flack of Arizona & the stalling tactics are back in the House.

On cspan 9/23/08, Treasury Secretary Paulson from GoldmanSacks recieved over $30M his last year at GoldmanSacks, They are the number1 beneficiary of proposed ''bailout''.

9/24/08 Warren Buffet invests $8B in GoldmanSacks. HMMM what does he know?

Lou Dobbs has drunk the Palin koolaid. He is also calling for revolution.

9/23/08 the DOW was at 10,854.17 and OIL was 106.61, at 8am this morning the DOW was up to 10,866+, before it started to fall again and OIL was up to 107.60. It’s not a Recession, not official, till 9,800. That’s a 30% drop from 14,000.

On Cspan1 this morning Duncan Hunter (R California) was speaking on the Defense Bill "we must have it to protect the World".

On Cspan2 this morning, John Cornyn (R) was speaking on the Energy Bill. "Stop the Lawsuits" Drill,Drill,Drill.

Cspan3 was on cnbc with Bernanke, explaining the Bush/Paulson “Bail Out Proposal”. I think we are back to those sound “Trickle Down” economic policies of Reagan.

On Comcast Newsmakers, Oregon & Wasington are 1 & 2 in the Nation in Breast Cancer diagnosis. 75% of Susan G. Komen funds stay here.

POLITICAL

This Friday, we'll reach another milestone in this campaign -- the first debate of the general election, on September 26th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. The reign of the latest King George is over, I hope, in 3 months.

DOW within 15 of 11,000, OIL up to 120,92, Fill up your tank’s today!

Senator Stevens (R Alaska) is in Federal Court today.

September 14, 2008 on This Week, George had Alan Greenspan as a guest. Is Greenspan a SHORT SELLER?

On Cspan yesterday, Peter Defazio was carrying bills, they were all Slam dunks. The R's must be catching hell about stalling. Also Peter Defazio, had rant on Paulson, go Peter go. Also Sherman (D of Calif.) had a great line for the bailout proposals, “cash for trash”.

Foxxy (R NC) speaks out on Ronald Reagan high schools establishment of Credit Union. Sounds a little socialistic to me.

Judy Shiprack needs some volunteers for her lit drops October 4/5 and October 10/11. They will begin at 10am+-. I hope to have more later.

POLITICS

Sunday I got out to see the Barton pre walk gathering. We’ve got 2 Barton signs in the yard now. He need’s more volunteers. Wish I could walk for him, especially in this neighborhood.

I missed a lot of the 60 minutes show with Obama and McCain. From what I saw Obama scorched him.

But, if you watched the Emmy’s, at least Laura Linney respects community organizers.

Did I actually hear that a “Rothschild”? Hillary Backer came out for McCain because Obama was eliteist?

I really like those T. Boone Pickens ads. Republicans like them because he starts with “I say DRILL, DRILL, DRILL”. Democrats like them because he says “we can’t drill our way out of this mess, we must look at alternatives”’ like CNG, wind, etc.

Who is it that who has control of the most CNG and is putting together that wind corridor in Texas and the like? HMMMM

Look’s like the market is trying to break below 11,000 this morning.

At 4:30pm on yesterday's ESPN Ryder Cups coverage, US wins 51/2 to 21/2 (ball tracker is cool) Michelson/Kim vs. Harrington/McDowell was an awesome match (USA has best white caps & shirts) Europe’s finish could give them momentum going into today’s match, but, I’ll still be chanting USA, USA, USA. Sorry Paddy.

I woke up this morning at about 7:30am. I went into the kitchen to fix a cup of coffee. When I got ½ way back to my computer room I realized I left my cane in the kitchen. That was, at least 50 steps without cane assistance! Today starts as a 4!

I received an email from my Kaiser Neurologist this morning. As an MS patient he warned me against taking a hot mineral bath. I guess I was not clear in my questions to him, weather to take a hot mineral bath was not being considered.

Made my 4th attempt to comment on the WW “expose” article on Judy Shiprack. I’m sure Oregonian and WW subscribers are mostly bird owners but some of you might read them on line.

Hope those with subscriptions to the Labor Press read it yesterday. I haven’t seen mine yet.

They also had “Bush’s” economic advisor on, He looked like he might have been a college graduate (Liberty University?) last decade, he was a talking about the “Market and Financial” concerns. I went to see my Naturopath/Chiropractor, yesterday afternoon. He adjusted me with an electronic acupuncture machine. He told me I was too fat; Surprise, Surprise. I need to quit taking my pain pills. A lot of the “foods” I like are bad for me. I should eat more raw vegetables, ewww, and drink more water. We spent an hour together. His “treatment” made the rest of my day, at least till 6:30pm, go from a 3+ to a 5+. Also this morning I woke up to a 4, although I was awoken at about 1:30am from a sound sleep with some hellasious muscle spasms that lasted about 45 minutes. Yesterday we talked about my lower back pain and my back pain history. He gave me some assignments to complete before my next appointment. Yes, I made another appointment for September 30. I can’t wait. Thanks Craig, for the referral.

I got a thank you call last night from Judy Shiprack about yesterday’s posting. I’ll have more on this later, till then I hope my millions ;-) of readers do whatever they can to help get her elected.

Don't believe the rags

POLITICS

On CSPAN the house of representatives appeared pretty busy this morning. The R's are back at it, DRILL,DRILL,DRILL. vs Oversee,Oversee,Oversee.
They had a Rule debate on HR 6899, it was Hastings (R) vs Slaughter (D) The R’s complaining the current House Resolution Document (HR 6899) was written in secret, I think they confused this action with the Bush/Chaney Energy plan? They also took shot at Obama, Biden & Pelosi.

The US House started voting on bills the republicans have been slowing down all year.

Nick Rahall’s introduction of HR 6899 bears reading, also, Steny Hoyer’s comments on drill bill, He was awesome.

PERSONAL

The Oregonian/Willamette Week took major shot’s at Judy Shiprack and LINK today. They say even bad press is good if they spell your name right. Notice, I didn’t use the words, or and, and to separate them. I figured both of these rags are the same anyway.

I would think, in their effort’s to be “fair and balanced”, if not accurate, they would try to contact the President of LINK. But then again, I’m not running for anything. And after all, I have M.S., And, I couldn’t be expected to remember that far back.

“Editor’s Note” These articles seem to have awakened my memories, especially as it relates to the “fact’s” espoused in them. More on this later.

DOW down 304+ / 11,113+ - OIL 97.00 gas 2.57

DOW (DOWN 252 at 7:41am - (sharks are in the water at 7:50am) (oil down to 96.18 gas 2.59) Later the DOW finished down over 500 points and Oil was down over $90. Must be a lot of HHM’s out there today. (Happy hockey moms)

DOW closed down 504+ (10,917) & OIL at 94.06

On the Rachel Maddow show; Robert Reich says it's BAD.
Alan Greenspan, economic advisor to G. Washington, says it's BAD.
I'm sure soon someone will say “it's Clinton's fault.”
Today (Monday) Treasury Secretary Paulson held a press conference, from White House. He asked “what's wrong with financial market's.” He said the Markets and Banking systems are in good shape here. They don’t need more regulation or more “bailouts”. What’s the cause? Fannie May and Freddy Mac are outdated?

Maybe, Greed, Greed, Greed.

I wonder where Neil Bush is today?

Bernie Sanders was at it again also. Attacking Bush & McCain on the economy. Go Bernie Go. Repeated speech I reported on in earlier Post. Go Bernie Go, anyway. Sen. Durbin also on the economy said, McCain announced today the economy fundamentally sound who is he talking too? Neil?

I watched Sen. Whitehouse (D - R.I.) speak on his amendment on the Intelligence $ bill. With the current administration’s stand, and I! might add, a McCain administration’s stand, on ''Torture & Retention'', we are at odds with I.C.R.C. (Red Cross)

Spoke with my sister yesterday. She sounded good, but tired. We’ll all be glad when she finishes her treatment. She also told me of plans for a family reunion in July 09. Sounds like fun

I fended for myself for 2 day’s while the wife was celebrating her nieces 21st birthday at the casino at the coast. She didn’t bring home a bundle of cash, but my Saturday & Sunday I’d still rate as 3+’s.

Thanks D for my cigs & my lottery tickets.

The DOW was down 252 at 7:41am - ( sharks in the water at 7:50) (oil down to 96.18 and gasoline down to 2.59. Treasury Secretary Paulson had a Press conference from the W. H. about the US Market (DOW), and US banking systems (Lehman, etc.). Don’t worry everything’s fine! I think I’ll do a google search and see where Neil Bush is now.

I got one email on the Local Union election and she isn’t even a member.

I watched some of Bob Shieffer’s show on CBS yesterday morning. He had a panel of 4 women commenting on Sara Palin. While I watched, Bob couldn’t get a word in edgewise, and he had to interrupt them to get a commercial in. Of what I saw, Debbie Wasserman congresswoman (D-Florida) did a fine job.

Watched some of cnn’s, “The VP candidates revealed!” How many snakes are in that woodpile?

HMMM

PERSONAL

My local union is having an election. I got a letter from one of the candidates in the mail yesterday. It was a very good letter, he has a website, it is well done. It is brand new, and he shows’s he has a vision, and he is looking for help. Right now, I am undecided.
I have a personal knowledge and memory of what it’s like being stuck between 2 people you respected and admired. I don’t want to see my brother in the same situation. I’ve worked around this candidate for over 25 years. I dealt with him when I was a Rep. for Local 235, Local 290 and when I was with the Building Trades.
I used to drink at his Dad’s tavern. His dad was a proud member of my local union. While this fence is definitely a high one, I’m not worried of hurting myself if I jump off, I just don’t want to land on anyone or hurt anyone.

SPORTS

My call of a bad day for PAC 10 football was too soon yesterday. Cal was tromped, UCLA was tromped, but the DUCK'S came back over Purdue and the Beavers rolled. Washington lost. Southern Cal Rolled over Ohio State. PSU vs. U.C. Davis, was on channel 37, "Kim McNicholas" was the sideline reporter. That PSU shout out was for Judi & Bob.

Baseball had a ''Double Header Day'' Saturday.

Early post today: I’ve got football to watch.

POLITICS

POLITICS – Gordon Smiths Gary Gilmore (Willie Horton) ads really irk me. Is it just me?

Alex Ansary has a show “Outside the Box” telecast 7pm Thursday’s and on his 9/11/08 show he figures (since the Fanny & Freddie bailout) the government is now the stock market. I think, he has it backwards the market is the government. If you are not paranoid now, you will be after you watch his show.

POLITICS

I watched replay of 20/20 with Sara Palin. She Became Mayor, a city with no debt, but left the city with 12 to 13M in debt. I wonder what was the Texas debt was when Bush left. He came to Washington with surplus and we now have the largest debt in history.

I watched Bill Clinton on Martha yesterday, he has a new book out, Giving. and suggested everyone visit mycommitment.org Yes, Marty, even I watch Martha once in a while.

I watched Charlie Rose yesterday also, his guest; Paul Begalla, said Demo's are now like Large Mouth Bass…attacking anything shiny in the water.

Remember 9/11

POLITICS

Watched - Cspan2 – The Senate, Senator Grassley was ditzing the McCain tax plan & attacking Obama's plan. According to him the National Federation of Independent Businesses is the only group with accurate data. There was about 6/7 other people visible on TV, in ¾ minutes, I think 1/2 were asleep.

Senate Bill 3001, Defense Appropriations Bill, had 200+ amendments – They plan to work Friday & Monday & vote Tuesday. Levin & Warner are carrying the bill. With 200+ amendments it appears the Republicans will try to obstruct. Senator J. Demint R S.C. threw the 1st wrench.

Cspan2 – Senator Bernie Sanders went on an 11 minute Rant on economy. Go Bernie Go! Earlier a Republican Senator said the current Inspector General’s oil company/oversight/sex expose was Clinton’s fault. Bernie pointed out that under Clinton 6 million people moved out of poverty under Bush 6 million people moved out of middle class & into poverty. If he doesn’t watch out Lieberman will take away his Independent card.

Watched Cnbc – “power lunch” discussion on dept of energy scandal. It was Clintons fault '' after all the inspector general that was appointed and broke the scandal was appointed by Clinton.'' Dennis Neal appears to be the McCain rep. at Cnbc.

Watched Cspan2, cnbc, cnn & OPB, “The non debate with Obama & McCain. Maybe it was just me but McCain appeared uncomfortable most of the time, and It was sure nice that Cspan took a 3 to 4 minute break after about 6 or 7 minutes of questions, after all they are the commercial free service provided by the cable network’s. McCain appeared pissed a couple of times, he could take a breath, and Obama had time to talk to the audience. It appeared the breaks were designed to remind us of what day it was.

I guess, in a non-Debate, there is not supposed to be any winners or losers. I know I’m prejudiced…………….but, if I was rating the questions and answers 1 to 10. I’d give McCain a 4, and Obama an 11. They both were eloquent in pointing out how screwed up G. W. was/is. They both also pointed out what a Statesman Ted Kennedy is.

PERSONAL

Today started as a 3

So far today's a five for me

BLOG 9/11/08

PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS

I’m sure nobody needs to be reminded of the significance of today’s date. It’s one of those day’s most people can remember what they were doing that day.

I was at the Oregon AFL-CIO convention in Seaside, Oregon. The Building Trades had a picket on a Non Union project a few blocks from the Convention Center and we decided to picket it before the Convention started that day. While on the picket line we heard about the 1st plane that struck the trade center. The superintendent came to the picket line and showed his disgust with us on the fact that we would be picketing with that “disaster” happening in New York. As with most picket lines, some of the workers went through the line, some didn’t. When it appeared they weren’t going to get much done, at least that morning, I returned to my hotel room to get ready for the day’s convention. When I got there my wife had the news on and I found out it was not just a catastrophic accident, but it appeared to be, the U.S. was under attack. The irony of that non-union worker’s statement “that we should be ashamed that we were picketing when that tragedy was unfolding in New York wasn’t lost on me, we were bad people because we were picketing at that time, but he didn’t see fit to shut his job down for the same reason. I woke up at about 5:30 this morning, and put my flag out. I wonder what he did this morning?

POLITICAL

Yesterday The Senate “debated” S 3001 amendment’s, The Defense Appropriations bill. It had an, overdue, raise for the DOD & the services and a raise for Widow’s and Orphans’ of servicemen. There were even 2 Senators that voted against that amendment, can you believe it!

Senator Bernie Sanders, Independent from Vermont, gave a great speech on “ Waste, Fraud and Abuse”. I’m sure my nephew in the Oregon Guard would have liked it.

Yesterday’s front-page story in Willamette Week on Senator Gordon Smith was an interesting read.

Senator Lieberman gave a speech, for McCain I’m sure, attacking Obama & Biden. I still can’t believe 1) he was a democrat and 2) He once was our choice for V.P.

SPORTS

Could this be the year? Go Cub’s Go. Manny seems to be making a difference in L.A., Who’d a thunk? My fantasy football draft is Friday night. Wish me luck. My league is Pure Awesomeness and my team is the Copperheads, I thought it was yesterday, my bad.

M.S. REPORT

Forgot my regimen of noon pill’s yesterday and the day before but woke up today feeling pretty spunky. If I were to rate my day’s from 1 to 5, yesterday & the day before were 3+’s, today so far a 5. But, I’m still not ready to golf or drive.

The Latest

TV/Book Reviews

Watched some of Good Morning America - They reported on new Gallup Poll, McCain jumps up 20 percent with women after Convention. This needs more analizing.

Watched some of Lou Dobbs '' Independent Convention'' He reported the U.S. Chamber of Commerce lobbing expense report for 2007 had 350M+.

Could the ''liberal'' media be attempting to convince the public not to bother voting.

KISS - Keep It Simple Soldier.

Watched cspan, A Treasury-CBO representative. (peter orszag) was speaking on the government take over of fannie & freddy.
I think it's a move to get away from congressional oversight & put all as debt on government books and have Wall Street do the oversight.
Also on cspan Jim McDermott d-Wa. signed on to Impeachment.

Keep your eye on the ''BALL/'PUCK''

I watched cspan2 with Bush at national military university. He said something that made me pause........ ''history has shown - when people have a choice between tyranny & liberty, they choose ''liberty''. DAAAAAAA

I watched Tom Friedman on Charlie Rose, His book ''Hot, Flat and Crowded" probably deserves a read.

If I have-were a questioner for either Presidential ticket I would ask them all, how many times they changed their mind or flip flopped since 1985.

Unfair, I know, McCain was still recovering from his capture and release after we won the Vietnam war.
Joe Biden was still getting to know his new Wife'.
Barack Obama, I think, was doing something like selling newspapers, or the like in south Chicago & deciding to change his name from Barry to Barack so he would be ready for his planned run for President.
And, I think Sarah Palin was contemplating her assendency to the Presidency in Home room Class in High School. Everybody knows High School girls never change, "flip/flop", their minds.

I also think we should prepare for another ''TRAIL OF TEARS''. I think Bush = Jackson and the Cherokee Nation is now those illegal Mexicans. I got this convoluted thought after watching OPB's show, Andrew Jackson / good, evil.... ''Banks vs. Corporation’’ July 10, 1832. I equate Jackson vs. Clay as Obama vs. Mcain.

M.S. UPDATE:

My trip to the Naturopathic Physician was quite interesting. He is retired, His office is behind the Brake Store, he is a Ron Paul & NRA Fan, he and his wife are 85+- yrs young, and I still plan to go back.

After reviewing old e-mails I thought I'd share this one from 2005 with everyone.

Thanks Doug & Jim.

TV

Watched cnbc ''Power Lunch'' (10:15 am 9/8/08) all five commentators appear to be running for a place in the McCain/Palin administration. - If I have or were a questioner for either Presidential ticket I would ask them both how many times they changed their mind/flip flopped since 1985, Unfair I know McCain was still recovering from his capture and release after we won the Vietnam war. Joe Biden was still getting to know his ''Trophy Wife''. Barack Obama, I think, was selling or doing something like selling newspapers, or the like, in like in south Chicago & deciding to change his name from Barry to Barack so he would be ready for his planned run for President. And I think Sarah obviously was preparing for her run asking God for guidance on what to do with that $ for the Bridge to nowhere.

9/9/08 7:30am Good Morning America - Gallup Poll, McCain jumps up 20 percent with women.

Watched some of “Lou Dobbs Independent Convention''. U.S. Chamber of Commerce lobbing expense report for 2007 350M+. Could the ''liberal'' media be attempting to convince the public not to bother voting? KISS - Keep It Simple Soldier.

Disclaimer: All my posts are my opinions. They should not be taken as anything more. They are the truths I discern, to the best of my ability from family, friends and acquaintances. Not “Biased, Left Wing, Washington Liberal, Media” types. Although I do listen to & watch them.

POLITICS: I watched Joe Biden yesterday morning (9/7/08) on Meet the Press. Then I went to my computer room to work on my September 7, 2008 blog posting. We all know I’m kind of slow but, by the time I was finished, my server was reporting that Palin agreed to an interview and then I got a personal e-mail that basically said, She was not Loved by all in Alaska.

POLITICS The McCain/Palin campaign has been saying they were not going to subject their V.P. candidate to those “Biased, Left Wing, Washington Liberal, Media” types. The moderator, Tom Brokaw, who, I think, thought he was standing in for Palin by the tone and tenor of his questions.

SPORTS Thank you J. J. Putz and your 98 mph fastball for save number 12. Lou and the Cub’s seem back on track. The Dodgers are alone in 1st and what about those DUCK’S?

WALLY’S ODYSSEY – My walk-in Bath and 2 new toilets appear to be exceeding $10,000.

RECOMMENDED MUSIC - Celtic Thunder is coming to Portland Dec. 6th. I saw them last night on OPB. They are not the “Celtic Women”, but still very good! Some would say I’m being sexist. But again, these posts are just MY opinion. Does that confirm or dispute that assertion?

A day in the life (post 2)

SPORTS REPORT:

Well, yesterday my cubbies lost, again. The Mariners introduced a new Pitcher, (Morr0w), He was awsome 7 plus innings of a no/no vs the Yankee's and the Dodgers won with a 2-hitter. Well my cousin and brother are happy today, but my niece and I are a little sad.

I joined a free fantasy football league, they have their draft on the 9th (I think). My team name is the Copperheads. Family, I think, understand that choice. I was in one a couple years ago and chose the same name and won the League. I'll try to keep you all updated on my progress.

POLITICAL REPORT:

I watched a lot of both the Democratic Convention and Republican Conventions on c-span, cnn, cnbc, OPB, and even on Fox. I was motivated enough to write a letter to the editor, which I will report on later. I've been told it will be published on September 19th.

HOME FRONT:

Still working on getting a walk-in tub and a couple of commode changes. Developing into quite the project.
My brother and sister-in law came by and she gave me a haircut on my back Deck. Thank's Deb. I didn't save the hair, but I had enough to make 5 or six real hair wigs, sorry guy's
I made an appointment with a naturopath(sp) Dr. next week that has a new M.S. treatment proposal that sounds interesting.

I have never been a voracious reader and I am a slow typist. I don't get around much anymore, pretty much just watch TV (c-span, cnn, cnbc, sports, etcetera) and play at my computer.

My wife convinced me to start a blog, and here it is. This blog I consider "just a conversation". I am interested in Politics, Sports and spin.

I'll try to answer any questions you may have about me and try to refer you to places I've found for answers.

Now, I think I'm interesting, but that's just me. I figure we will all find out sometime in the future.
