Save the goats ?

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 5am to a 2+ after a good 9 hours of sleep. I took my am pills and noticed the temperature on the deck was well below freezing again this morning. After 2 sessions in my chair and perusing C-span, CNN, CNBC and the local news I am at my workstation at a 3+. It’s going to be another short report today, being Saturday and all. I know the D’s and Obama are working on the “stimulus” bill. Based on the rollovers agreed to so far to get to a bipartisan bill with 0 Republican votes; I wonder what else are they going to give up?

POLITICAL

I watched a little bit of the Republican Winter meeting yesterday and they chose a new party chair. It must have been a hard choice; after all, it looked like they had four or five African Americans to pick from. I only saw one person I thought I recognized, Norma Paulus?

SPORTS

Based on what the Monkey’s, Orangutan’s, my Brother and other animals are choosing as the Super Bowl winner; should I be out looking for a goat?

Aren’t those advertisements by this group well done? I am not sure how many, if any, of the addresses I contacted and asked to join me in thanking Obama for keeping the free choice act alive. Thank you Mary Beth also.

I haven’t found it yet, but the new website for the “Biden Commission” is, I believe, a stronger middle class dot gov.

OTHER STUFF & OBSERVATIONS

I hope everyone can share the American Rights at work website so my small donation can be utilized to it’s fullest extent.

Whether you attend a church service, a Mosque, G & L gathering, or Synagogue service, please say a prayer that God; yours, mine or ours; keeps our service men and women in the Palm of their hand.

Keep those prayers and good thoughts flowing, we all need them! They ARE working!

And Mike, today I am over 333, but I am also posting at a 3+.

Well, I’ll see you next time on my blog………….

Thank you Mary Beth !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning just before 5am to a 2+ after a good 8 hours of sleep. Following my am pills, 4 sessions in my chair, and checking for Blog fodder on C-span, CNN, CNBC and the local news, I am back at my workstation at 3+. I’ll start off by apologizing for the double report yesterday, somewhere between me, my computer, and my blog, someone or something had a MS, by proxy attack?

POLITICAL

I’ve been watching some of the debate on the “Recovery” program that has been happening in the House. My Congressman (Earl) has made me very proud.

I also watched the Obama and Biden press conference announcing their establishment of a new web site, Announcing to the world they are pro union, and a new “commission”; with Biden as the chair, and the signing of 3 new executive orders that are intended to help give more Americans rights at work.

SPORTS

Hide those goats this weekend, please.

Lily Ledbetter deserves a deaf frog !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 6:15am after 9+ hours of sleep to a 2+. After taking my am pills and noticing the temperature was below freezing again this morning I settled into my chair. After 4 massage sessions and my review of C-span, CNN, CNBC and the local news searching for fodder for my reports. The DOW is down and Oil and Gas is up.

POLITICAL

On C-span most of the talk was how the republicans stuck together yesterday and voted as a block (100%) in the house against the “Stimulus” package. Many voted against it because it did not make permanent the BUSH tax cuts for Wall Street. Many voted against it because it did not make the American Owned Auto Workers in Michigan lower their wages to the same level as those Foreign owned auto workers in the deep south. You know, those Right to Work for less states. Were those 12, turncoats, democrats that voted with the republicans, really blue dog democrats, or anti union Right to Work for less supporters.

I also was fortunate enough to catch the President signing the new anti discrimination “Lily Ledbetter” law. I thought I saw Congressman DeLauro shedding a few tears. Lets see, I wonder, if it would be considered systemic discrimination for an Auto Company to pay less to their worker in Georgia for that same work performed in Michigan? Who is actually the discriminator, the state that allows and encourages this practice, or the firm that is doing it?

I also saw a little of the fireworks between Senator Hatch and Senator Boxer on the SCHIP bill. It appears that the new republican anti abortion tact is to codify conception is when a child can assert their constitutional rights, their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Why is it that these mostly Older Males feel the need to protect children in someone else’s womb, but not so much after they are born, like supporting K through 12 education?

I also feel bad that I did not make it to Speaker Hunt’s gathering last night. Judi did offer to take me, and I did have something to ask him, but I was out of energy at 6pm. My 2 questions would have been; Are Oregon Democrats against clean fuel like Liquefied Natural Gas, or just anti union, as that Privately financed and Union Built (putting about 1,000 union construction workers to work) LNG plant may also employ as many union workers as that Boardman Coal Plant does that they are trying to shut down.

SPORTS

It’s Super bowl weekend and I am rooting for the favorite, the Steelers. Any goat deaths this weekend cannot be blamed on me. The way I read it is; the Red State, Arizona, (McCain) versus the Blue State, Ohio (My FFB QB big Ben R.)

Straight Talk Express Bus loses another wheel.

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning around 6am to a 2+, after 9+ hours of sleep. I took my am pills and noticed the snow falling on the deck. After a few sessions in my chair and a breakfast of soft-boiled eggs and toast, I am at my workstation at 3+. The snow is still coming down and we are now about 2 inches, but it is not supposed to last.

POLITICAL

President Obama has said he wants a bipartisan stimulus bill to sign, and soon. I won’t say that is impossible, but, can you find more than 2 republicans, in either house, that could add two plus two and not come up with anything but a six?

Watching John McCain on the floor of the Senate reminds me of when the "straight talk express bus" lost one of it's wheels.

I didn’t see the end of last nights Blazer game until this morning. Yes, Roy does remind me of Clyde, Gross and Jerome all together.

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning about 5:30am to a 2+, after 9+ hours of good sleep. I took my am pills and noticed the slight dusting of snow on the deck. After 2 sessions in my chair and setting my TVO for the talking heads today, I am at my workstation feeling 3+ and I’m ready to report. Today, I’ll try to remember to post my report.

OTHER STUFF & OBSERVATIONS

Judi, I think, is still trying to put together a team for the upcoming M.S. fundraiser walk. I’d like to join her, but I think they are doing 5 miles and I’m not sure I could do 5 times around our island counter in the kitchen.
I did do a stamina check yesterday on our kitchen island “track”. I am up to 3 times, so 5 is not out of the question.
I did watch a 30-minute show on the exercise channel about Namaste Yoga yesterday. With what I have been told about Acupuncture, and my NCA using acupuncture points for my treatments, and seeing this exercise show, I think I’ll do some research on MS in China.

100+ hours

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 5am to a 2+, after 7+ hours of good sleep. I took my am pills, and I saw it was freezing on the deck. I settled into my chair for at least 6 massage sessions and tuned into C-span, CNN, CNBC and NWCN for fodder for my blog. I am now at my workstation, preparing my reports, which will follow below and I am at a 3+.

POLITICAL

Yesterday’s announcement by OUR President, that he has started the process of closing that Guantonamo prison, and we are now reentering the world of listening to others, and not telling people my way is the only way, was sure refreshing. Watching the Republicans in Congress say, out of one side of their mouth, they are the only ones supporting Obama’s recovery plan, and then holding a press conference to say they will not support THE plan unless it has their Kill the Unions language and more money for business (Wall Street) in it.

Hypocrite, Paranoid, Me ?

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 4:45am to a 3+ after a very good 7+ hours of sleep. After taking my am pills and 2 sessions in my chair. After tuning in to check the talking heads on C-span, CNN, CNBC and watching the end of the Blazer game last night, I am here at my workstation at a 3+ also. I got an email from brother Mike last night and he wanted to know how my “smoking” was going? I did not reply, because, as a “non-smoker” for over 50 hours by then, I have learned to hate, even “talking about cigarettes”.

POLITICAL

I watched some of the House economic stimulus committee meeting this morning and I did learn at least a few things. First, Hypocrisy is not limited to just Salem. Second, Hypocrisy is not limited to Republicans. Third, You are not necessarily a hypocrite if you really change your mind.

I also was impressed with our new President’s first official actions yesterday regarding Lobbyists, Gitmo and Habeas Corpus. I guess I do not understand either, what a Lobbyist is, or Lobbying is. Thank goodness for TV shows like NCIS, 24 and West Wing so I can understand the concepts of habeas corpus, rendition, and lobbying.

SPORTS

I fell asleep while watching the Blazer game last night. I did remember to record it, and so I watched the end this morning. The center match-up was everything I thought it would be. Now I know this sounds like sour grapes, but I still think it was a couple of TIMELY BAD CALLS that decided this game.

Obama gets me to 3+ !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 5:45am to a 3+ after a very good 7+ hours of sleep. I felt as good this morning as I have in weeks. I took my am pills and noticed it was below freezing again this morning and then I went to my chair for 4 massage sessions. I turned on the TV to check out C-span, CNN, and CNBC.
I watched and taped the Inauguration yesterday, and I was astounded by the coverage. I did also see that the Senate acted on most of the O’bama nominee’s, but not all of them. That Good Ole Boy, southern senator wanted and got 3 more hours to grill/question Clinton. I am sure, as Secretary of State, those world leaders she must negotiate with, will be less concerned with Bill’s Foundation, and more concerned with real world problems.

POLITICAL

L.B.J. has been credited to giving the South to the Republicans for the last 40 years because of his support for the Voting Rights Act, among other things. Based on what I saw and heard yesterday I think the Republicans may have even lost the support of that White, Religious Right base in the South. I really believe they have lost it (“the south”) because they believed their base had nowhere else to go. I also think that is something good Democrats should also be concerned with.

SPORTS

I must watch the Blazers tonight. That Center match-up should be fun to watch. Did I hear that today is Greg Odens twenty-first birthday?

FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST.

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 6:15am to a 2+. I took my am pills, including the Wellbutrin, and settled into my chair for 2 sessions and turned on the Inauguration coverage. I am also watching the coverage to see if I spot any friends or followers I am sure are there. My report today will be very short, as I have more coverage to watch. I have been a non smoker for over 32 hours now, and in the words of that great Negro Spiritual, “We shall over come”. Even I feel freed today.

POLITICAL

Based on the known science of today. My ancestors came to America from Ireland, as did Barack’s Mother's. The human race first stood upright in Africa and then populated the rest of the earth. Many humans exited Africa and settled everywhere. Does that mean, at least today, even I am African American?

Come on people; lets re-fix the Oregon Unemployment system and help O’bama with his stimulus package, especially if we quit fighting each other and give Oregonians double the bang for the buck. There is a group of people out there that speak out of both sides of their mouth. First, out of one side, we must shut down that dirty, nasty Eastern Oregon Electrical Power Plant. Then, out of the other side of their mouth; we cannot allow that unsafe, dangerous, “clean energy” supply station at the other end of our Columbia river! What would you suppose these two “dangerous” places have in common? Could I be paranoid, or is it just that they both, have been, or will be, built and operated Union?

HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 4:30am to a 2+ and after taking my am pills and settleling down to 2 sessions in my chair to see what might be important to the world, at least on C-span, CNN, and CNBC, I am back here for my short posting at 3+. Today is a national holiday and I will be putting out my flag, but it is still dark outside, Happy Birthday, Martin. I have a follow up appointment this morning at Kaiser. I have pipes to unclog. And even though Marty took advantage of me yesterday, he said he would locate a “snake” and help me with my pipes today, what a guy! Another short report today as I have much to do, and places to go.

POLITICAL

I’m not sure how this will fit with my posting time but I just looked at my clock as I was finishing this short report and we were 33 hours and 33 minutes away from swearing in our 44th president. Ooooooooooooo cool !

SPORTS

I haven’t checked yet but I think my FFB season is over again. I will, of course, be rooting for the Steelers in the Super Bowl. After all, it’s still about the numbers. Isn’t it the 43rd Super Bowl, and wasn’t McCain from Arizona?

Under 48 hours - and we all know how important the numbers 4 and 8 are !

PERSONAL

I slept in this morning until after 7:45am and woke up to a 2+ after a good 9+ hours of sleep. After taking my am pills and seeing that the temp on the deck was below freezing again this morning. I had 4 sessions in my chair, set my TVO for the Sunday morning talking heads and came into my workstation to start my report at a 3+. After resetting my lineup for FFB, and giving brother Marty an opportunity to win a small amount backing his pick in the first championship game, he refused and messed up his numbers (we all know how important numbers are!). His team for the NFC, is the Cardinals, my team is Philadephia. My team for the AFC is the Ravens. The reasons for my pick should be obvious to everyone. It’s all about numbers and colors. And yes, Dianna, your memory of Thursday nigh does differ from my memory.

POLITICAL

I haven’t seen the video yet, but I’ve been told, my goooooood friend Mike Schauffler had a great rant in Salem last week. I am not sure, but I need to check on our replacement for my State Representative, Linda Flores and our new Attorney General, which I also supported may have taken the wrong side on a key issue I have been talking about on my blog. My VCPF Mary also told me yesterday about the treatment of the Oak Harbor people by the employment department. I thought that this issue was taken care of many years ago. Based on the first week’s efforts in Salem I feel the Capital could once again use a cranky person, in a motorized scooter with a cane. While Barbara is not in the Governors office any more, and with Frank gone, the current occupant of that office could maybe use a guy on a scooter, with a cane.

SPORTS

My lovely wife just informed me that the Cardinals have started with a Touchdown, which puts brother Marty ahead so I had better get in there to work on turning that around. So again a short report today.

Just over 72 Hours !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 7:15am to a 2+ after a good 7+ hours of sleep. After taking my am pills, noticing the below freezing temperatures on the back deck and 6 sessions in my chair I am back here at my workstation at very close to a 3. I know I should be feeling worse because I was up after 10pm for 2 days in a row, but when we left the Union meeting last night I was at a 4+. That was due, in large part to a couple of sessions in brother Mikes massage chair at the hall, the 4 Tylenol he gave me, and seeing so many Sisters and Brothers I have not seen for a long time. Brother Marty gave me a lift to the meeting, he had to be there early for his final Executive Board meeting. I did notice, that after 6 years on the e-board together, how much Bob P. and he looked alike. Marty was also complimentary to Bob for losing some weight to get closer to what he and Bob ware packing. I'll just leave this thought with the belief thay share the same nicknam. ;-0 Following Marty's board meeting, and before the regular meeting we did have enough time to stick brother Mike for dinner. :-) The meeting was a very good one, and I got a lot of good information. I also got to say hello to an old former friend, the international rep that was there to swear in the new slate of officers. I say FORMER BECAUSE HE ACCUSED ME OF BEING MY BROTHERS FATHER ! His speech was very good, but I will keep this memory out of the holes in my brain because of his accusation, not because of his speech.

POLITICAL

Based on something I heard last night, my pillar of the party membership is in definite jeopardy. I believe that President-elect O’Bama’s Economic recovery plan will go a long way to getting Americans back to work. There are a couple of shovel ready projects, without the need for government “bail-out” dollars right here in river city. I know there are a lot of good Democrats out there that read my blog. As Rachel Maddow would say; I need one of you to “talk me down”.

Clinton did It !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 6:15am to a 2+ after about 7 hours of good sleep. I took my am pills, including my stop smoking helper, and I noticed it was just above 20 degree’s outside. I settled into my chair and checked out C-span, CNN, and CNBC. My first look at C-span had the continuation of the Eric Holder, nomination for Attorney General and my first look at CNBC showed the DOW up close to 100 points. I’ll have more to say on the Attorney General nominee later. By the time I came back to my workstation, and had 5-6 sessions in my chair I consider my self at a 3+, even though the DOW gave back that 100 points, and then some. Our friend Dianna came by yesterday afternoon to play some cards. After I trounced Judi and her in the first game it was one on one with Dianna for a follow-up game. After a wonderful dinner, we finished our game and Dianna squeaked this one out. Judi’s wonderful dinner proved to me once again, Canasta is just a game.

POLITICAL

C-span had the continuation of the Attorney General nominee hearing this morning. Based on what I saw this morning the Republicans are going to fight it pretty hard. I believe they will be using “Clinton did it”, “he wants to take away your guns”, “we can’t politicize the D. O. J.,” and “O’bama supports Domestic Terrorists” arguments that were so successful (not) in last years Presidential race. BE THE DEAF FROG!
Based on the questions and answers in this hearing, this appointment should epitomize the election theme, “Change we can believe in”.

It should also appear evident that the O’bama selection, to head up the V. A., with General Cinseki should be welcome news for all my homeland security followers. He, like I, believe that getting a determination of eligibility of benefits, taking six months is unacceptable!

Judi told me this morning that the Inauguration next Tuesday will not only have probably the worlds biggest audience but the Coverage begins at 4am. We all need to say a prayer that all goes well.

SPORTS

The Blazers got back on the winning track last night in New Jersey, even being short handed. Even though they are on an extended road trip, with little time between games, their second half play has been tremendous.

My apologies for forgetting this request for the last week but; Whether you attend a church service, a Mosque, G & L gathering, or Synagogue service, please say a prayer that God; yours, mine or ours; keeps our service men and women in the Palm of their hand.

And Mike, today I am over 600, and I’m posting at a 4-. Based on my stamina last night, brother Marty’s offer to take me and Judi’s allowing us to use my car, with a heated seat, I intend right now to make my Union meeting Friday night..

The Biden choice !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 6:15am to 3+ after 8 good hours of sleep. I took my am pills, including the stop smoking one, settled into my chair for a couple of massages and turned on the TV to C-span, CNN, and CNBC.
I was fortunate to catch Senator Joe Biden on C-span giving his farewell speech, more on that later. I am sure it will be repeated many times today on C-span. It must have been special for Ron and Jeff to be there.
As was reported on Channel 2 news, Ed B. is also going to go to the inauguration, thanks to Brian B, while I will not, I will have a number of good friends that will, and I expect reports back.
It will be a short report today again, as I have much to do. My MS by proxy computer is back and letting me get my email this morning, but I still think Netscape sucks. My first look at the DOW today showed it down again and while OIL was going down, GAS was going up?

POLITICAL

I have just watched Senator Joe Biden’s farewell speech on C-span. I have always considered myself an excellent speech giver and speechwriter. I was not able to see live many of the people that gave me inspiration over the years, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Dwight Eisenhower, or General McArthur. I will say that his farewell speech should rank among the best ever given. At 5pm Eastern Time today he will officially be resigned from the Senate. While I am sure he will be missed, I now know why O’bama picked him for V.P.

SPORTS

I sure hope those injuries suffered by the Blazers last night are short term.

Netscape sucks

I have just spent over 45 minutes trying to access my email without any luck. When I go to Netscape.net I get an error message that says I must go to netscape.com and it does not recognize my address or my password. The netscape main page was less than helpfull so I checked for a phone number to call. After calling the toll free number and getting a nice "english is a second language" sounding lady that spoke impecable english, I was told 5/6 times that this "service" was a netscape.com service and that netscape.com was out of service for a while and they could not help me because my complaint was with netscape.net I have given up on trying to access my email for a while and I am going back to watching C-span; at least they are somewhat understandible.

See you all next time on my blog, hopefully!

Change is comming !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 6:45am to a 3- after a good 9+ hours of sleep with a little pain in my lower back. After taking my am pills and 2 sessions in my chair where I did have a cursory look at C-span, CNN, CNBC and my back deck weather station, which showed it was 32 degrees out side, I am back at my workstation at a 3+ to prepare my post. Is the BLOG taking over my life? I actually was dreaming about it when I awoke this morning. In my dream I actually think I came up with the reasons my follower list is still just a bakers dozen. While I actually believed I was talking to the Blogosphere, I was just talking at it! I think I have figured out how (at least in my dream) to talk with it. Brother Mike stopped by yesterday after his MRI and he did NOT report that hey found holes in his brain, like me any way.

POLITICAL

On C-span this morning the House was working on expansion of the S-chip program and it looks like they will finally get it done. The DOW was down over 274 points to just under 8200 and OIL was down and GAS was up, that’s not supposed to happen. I still think if all of O’bama’s health plan gets passed the market will start to zoom.

Misunderestimate ?

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 4am to a 3- after about 6 hours of good sleep. I was having some nasty muscle spasms in my back at dinner last night so I took a muscle relaxer and had 2 sessions in my chair before bed. I think that helped me wake up to a 3- but the Ibuprofen yesterday seemed to work better. I am on the 3rd day of my wellbutrin, and I know I said before I was going to be a non-smoker on 1/11/09, because of my faith in aces. I didn’t win the lottery either. I have not given up on my desire to be a non- smoker, the day I will become one, has just changed. I am now at my workstation at a 3+.
I am currently taping the Senate Hearing on Hillary Clinton’s appointment as Secretary of State. Her introduction by the to the Committee’s chair and ranking member went well, but I have to get back to it so my reports today will also be short ones.

POLITICAL

I saw that Bush was going to present the Medal of Freedom to 3 new recipients before he left office. In my opinion, based on some of his choices, the value of that Medal has sure been diminished. He is also going to request of congress to release that $350B that Obama has asked for. I sure hope O’bama’s faith in Paulson/Bush doing the right thing is not misguided, or “misunderestimated?” It appears that “Joe the Plumber” has embarked on a new career. He is now reporting for a blog in Israel. Do I have another career in my future?

SPORTS

The Blazers got their road trip off on a good foot last night in Chicago and I hope the rest of the trip is also successful. I’m still not sure about my FFB Toilet bowl chances, or results, but they did allow me to update my team?

Best day in months !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 5:45am to a 3+ after a good 8 hours of sleep and no back or hip pain! After my am pills and 4 sessions in my chair while checking up on C-span, CNN, CNBC and a couple of infomercials; I'll have reports to follow. I had the TV volume set at 10. I am now at my workstation at a 4-. Both my vision and hearing were great this morning when I woke up but I still managed to spill my juice from last night reaching for my cigarettes at my bedroom table. I am not sure what to attribute my waking to a 3+ and coming in here to a 4- cause and affect were, but I did start the wellbutrin yesterday and had over a dozen sessions in my chair. My smoking yesterday was still below a pack a day average, but not quite the ½ pack I’d hoped for.

POLITICAL

Yesterday the Sunday Morning talking heads themes appeared to be focused on O’bama still, even the ones I did not report on yesterday.

The 60 minutes special report last night on the price of Oil was very informative. Did you know that Morgan Stanley was the largest oil producer in the nation?
The themes that the Republicans were the Party that supports the O’bama economic Package was a concern to me also, but I must remember, I am a “deaf frog”!
I haven’t checked my email yet, so I will ask again. Should I start another blog?

SPORTS

While my FFB QB did have a superb game yesterday, his team was eliminated and I am not sure If I’m still in the toilet bowl?

Am I a Historian ?

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 7:15am to a 2+ after a good 8 hours of sleep. My lower back was not aching but my hip was. Following my am pills, and one wellbutrin, I took 4 sessions in my chair, turned on the Sunday morning talking heads shows, I will have more reports later in the blog, and came back here to prepare my posting at a 3+.

Welcome number 13. Do I now have a bakers dozen?

POLITICAL

I watched CBS’s Sunday morning with Charles Curalt, and learned 2 important things. First, the difference between Catholics and Jews, are not so much. Catholics are sorry for what they did, and Jews are sorry for what they didn’t do. I am Irish Catholic so I too understand Guilt. I also consider myself a deaf frog, “all you can do …”, and I feel guilt for not making Mass, does that not make us Jewish? I’m sooo confused! He also interviewed a number of “Historians” to discuss how President Bush 43 will rate in History. Almost 90% rate him as one of the worst, or the worst.
Can I call myself a Historian, even though I do not have a Degree? If I were, I’d definitely be in the majority.
I also watched Bob Shiefer on “Face the Nation” this morning. He had Dick Durbin, Roland Burris and a Republican Leader on to discuss the Burris appointment. While the Republican Leader was from the House, and the question was about a Senate appointment, he needed the Republican, to at least have the appearance of being “fair and balanced”. Is this another hint that CBS is soon to be taken over by FOX or was he auditioning to replace Bill O’Reiley?

I also recieved the results of the poll to set priorities for the DCCC. Could that have been our "Mary" that was quoted on the results page?

SPORTS

Even though I was not a keno winner yesterday, and as I have been reminded before, Keno is not a sport, I was above average yesterday. I just do not know where else to report?

My FFB “Toilet Bowl” team got a good start yesterday with a nine point average for my 3 positions, I still need San Diego to have a good day today. No matter what, I will be an AFC fan at the Super Bowl; I think!

It's not a sport !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 7:15am, after 9+ hours of good sleep, to a 2- because of back and hip pain. I took my am pills minus my ½ blood pressure pill and turned on the TV to set my TVO for the NFL game today and after 4+ sessions in my chair and a review of C-span, CNN, CNBC and NWCN to get fodder for my posting, I am in here to post at 3+. My fodder will follow in the various sections of my blog. When I checked my email before retiring last night I did have a message from my Nephew, currently stationed in California and he was wondering who I was talking about, when I referred to Homeland Security? I told him I considered, pretty much everyone who reads my blog, especially those that have taken the oath to “Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States”, and will actually do that.

POLITICAL

While watching C-span yesterday I got to watch the hearing on O’bama’s nominee for Secretary of Labor, nominee Hilda Solis. Senator Kennedy was his usual pro-worker, pro-family self. Independent Bernie Sanders (I-V) was, without a doubt, the most pro-union questioner on this panel. The Republicans wanted to see if the nominee was a RTW supporter. Tom Harkin was also a very good pro-worker questioner. All of the Republicans were very anti-union and Staunch Right to Work, for less, supporters and anti American Rights at Work people. The last thing those Republicans want are Americans with rights at work. I also feel really bad that I did not get my local union ballot back in time to be counted. While I was not waiting for my, “Tony Saprano” like, Union goon to tell me how to mark my “secret ballot!” I procrastinated and missed because of the weather. Did I notice that the new DNC chair amongst all those war mongers at the commissioning of the last Nimitz class Carrier?

SPORTS

I finally got a response from a reader. Keno and Poker are NOT sports. Being the lowest return on investment I have ever received, I guess I’ll agree. I did set my TVO for the Baltimore game today, as I have an interest in Baltimore’s success on my FFB Toilet Bowl game.

OTHER STUFF & OBSERVATIONS

I still haven’t heard from my Primary Care Doctor on my request for my wellbutrin to help me become a non-smoker on the 11th. Well I am now down to less than a pack a day and I still am shooting for the 11th, that extra help would be good.
I have also scheduled a new appointment with my NCA for the 20th. When I did that he told me that the contractor that referred me to him was at home mending a dislocated Shoulder he got hurt during the snow event we just had. If you can, please let Craig Schommer know we are thinking of him. Our Locals Assistant Business Manager is recuperating from surgery and should be included in our prayers. Supreme Court Fix ?

PERSONAL

I awoke today at 6am to a 2 because of pain in my lower back and right hip. I did get a good 8+ hours of sleep and I took my am pills, minus the ½ blood pressure pill, and added 2 Ibuprofen for the pains. After 4 sessions in my chair and checking out C-span, CNN and CNBC I came back to my workstation at a 3+. It was a gorgeous morning and I think that was the reason for the plus. Brother Marty did come by yesterday afternoon and we got to spend some quality time together while I ran a few errands. He took me over to the Hall and I was able to congratulate John on his re-election, I set up my new account for dabbling in the stock market, and spent a little time with my other brother at his workstation. I found out Mike Anderson was at home recovering from his surgery and doing well. Best wishes Mike, for a speedy and complete Recovery.

POLITICAL

The Oregon legislature reconvenes Monday and they will sure have their work cut out for them. I do believe they are up to the task though. At least they don’t have to worry about an Impeachment effort like Illinois. It was reported that their Governors impeachment passed 114-1. That, I think, will slow down O’bama’s efforts to fix the economy because the Senate will be short 2 Senators for a short time. Watching C-span while in my chair, a Lazy Boy by the way, the House was moving along on the Lilly Ledbetter Supreme Court fix. It will be a great day for our wives, daughters and nieces when it finally passes. Again, today Congressman Miller ( D-Calif.) and Congresswomen Delauro shined. The hearing on the new Secretary of Labor is on C-span 3. I will be missing it live, but I’m sure I’ll find it somewhere later. If we don’t forget again today to call Comcast I will also ask them how to get, or if we have, access to C-span 3.

SPORTS

I watched the BCS Bowl game last night and the Gators did win. Wally wins, Marty loses, but I still think Utah deserves the national Championship.

It's officially official !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 8:15am to a 3, after 8+ hours of interrupted sleep. By interrupted I mean I awoke at 2:30am this morning to a 3+ and stayed awake till after 4am. I took my am pills at 8:20, I had 5/6 sessions in my chair and turned on C-span, CNN, and CNBC; reports to follow.

POLITICAL

At 10:33 am this morning, in a joint session of Congress, O’bama officially became the President Elect. The Republicans hit the road running by saying they were the only ones supporting the President Elect and his Economic Recovery Package. Except for that darn Democratic Deficit that the Democrats have run up since their takeover in 2006. I also saw that our Senator Wyden was consulted on the new CIA director before the Intelligence Committee Chair, and she was pretty miffed. I also saw that Barack was proposing a new chair of the DNC. I think the Last Governor did a bang-up job and I hope the new Governor does also.

13 days

PERSONAL
I awoke this morning at about 6am to a 3-, I took my am pills, I noticed the chaos on the back deck from the wind last night, I had 4 sessions in my chair and did a short look at C-span, CNN, & CNBC. I am now at my workstation to post at a 3+.
On C-span 2 they showed a house committee meeting on the economic stimulus needs and it looked like they had a full house. It was George Miller’s, Democrat of California’s, committee. I sure like that guy.
On C-span 1 they were doing one-minute speeches. “And that’s just the way it is” Congressman Poe ranted on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. My one-minute speech now follows:
I do believe that all politics is local. I really think I understand local politics. I have been observing the play out of the current Israeli, Palestinian conflict on many of the network TV news shows.
I must say, understanding Global Politics still seems to evade me. Didn’t Israel and Egypt go to war in the late 60’s? Who started it? And what was the result? Palestine currently borders Israel and Egypt, right? Hamas is currently part of the Palestinian Government. Members of Hamas are sending missiles into Israel and killing civilians. The debate in the UN seems to be whether Israel should, or must, defend their citizens under fire, stop returning fire and let Humanitarian aid, through to Gaza. Egypt borders Palestine on the south, Israel borders Palestine on the north and the east. Hamas has got missiles to shoot at Israel. How did they get there?

POLITICS

13 days to go!
The Republicans are still ranting on “House Rules” changes from yesterday, they are trying to say they are the only ones supporting President O’bama. We will see!
When I watched the house swearing in ceremony yesterday, with all the kids, I looked for Brian B. and William and Wallace but I didn’t see them.

SPORTS

My FFB team is still in the toilet bowl but I appear to be 80+ points behind. I reset my lineup and I will still be rooting for San Diego and Buffalo this weekend. It appeared the high point teams have lost their high point team members.

3 aces !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 7am to a 2+ after a good 10 hours of sleep. I took my am pills, without the ½ blood pressure pill. Proceeded to my chair for 2 sessions and an early view of C-span, CNN, and CNBC; more reports to follow. I came in here to work on my report at a 3+. My first check at CNBC showed the DOW up slightly, and OIL and GAS, also up. Fill’er up people, it’ll be higher next week! I’m going to try today to become a “stock holder” of Lazy Boy for 2 reasons. One, because of my personal experience with my Lazy Boy; Two, the past high was $ 2.35.

POLITICAL

Today is the first day of the 111th congress. I would hope, by now, you would all understand my fascination with numbers? 3 aces!
I did last long enough to attend Judi Shiprack’s swearing in yesterday and it was wonderful for me too. We, and She, were treated to a real Native American Blessing, and we got to give her a “deaf frog” conductor pin. It was wonderful to see, and hear everyone there.
I got to see and talk to my good buddy Joe E, he is going to be fortunate enough to attend the O’bama inauguration and he will be staying with one of my “followers”, Dan G. I asked him to pick us up some more “blind frog” conductor pins at the Kennedy Center, as we have more to award.
I also watched the press conferences, on weather or not, to seat both Burris and Franken for the 111th congress.
Is it just me, or do the Democrats appear to be more like Republicans, on this issue?

As good of a feeling as I had for my keno tickets yesterday, the ones I turned in were not even above average, but my replacement tickets do give me a good feeling. C’mon people, is this a leisure activity, or a sport?

Remember, Homeland Security is watching, and also an English professor. And soon, maybe, another Professional Writer, welcome Jennifer?

I still hope Rachel does not get po’d.

Whether you attend a church service, a Mosque, G & L gathering, or Hanukah service, please say a prayer that God; yours, mine or ours; keeps our service men and women in the Palm of their hand.

Keep those prayers and good thoughts flowing, we all need them! They ARE working!
And thanks again Toto.

I hope everyone can share the American Rights at work website so my small donation can be utilized to it’s fullest extent.

And Mike, it is over 400 again today.

Well, I’ll see you next time on my blog…………..

Way to go FROGS !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 4:30am to a 2+ after 8hrs of good sleep. Judi shut the TV off at the wall switch last night and I didn’t get it back on until after 6am. After my am pills, 4 sessions in my chair, a good BP reading I am back here for an early report at 3+. Short one today as I have to get ready to attend the Swearing in of one of my “deaf frog” hero’s at 3pm.
I also checked on the stock price of Lazy Boy yesterday and it was around $ 2.00 a share.
My BIL Erick was kind enough to unpack my Amazon purchase and put it together Saturday and it looks more like a computer screen than a TV. While the delivery was later than they said it would be, UPS was faster than my in-laws delivery of their Christmas gifts were supposed to be. Way to go, Big Brown! The weather delayed them both, though.

POLITICAL

I missed seeing Cheney with Bob yesterday. I will be searching today for a replay. I didn’t see if he was arrested today.
I did see that Governor Richardson withdrew from O’bama’s cabinet yesterday due to an on going investigation. He did not want to detract from O’bama’s attempts to take care of the Economic fiasco he needs to fix right away. At least the so-called unfair contract he purported to award “illegitimately” was not with Halliburton. I am still wondering, how much of those pallets of billions of dollars lost in Iraq ended up in the US as campaign donations? Speaking of campaign donations, Don’t forget Mary Beth Maxwell.

15 days to go!

SPORTS

All of my FFB “toilet bowl” players are advancing in the playoffs but I still don’t know if I am?

The Blazers played a good game in the first half in LA last night but unfortunately, there were 2 half’s to play and they appeared pretty tired the second half.

"Non BD" party a success, I think?

PERSONAL

I awoke late this morning at about 8am to a 3, after 9 hours of interrupted sleep. I felt that was a good result following Judi’s “non BD” party last night. I hope everyone got home ok last night even though the weather returned to freezing before the festivities ended. This morning’s first check at my “weather station” on the back deck showed that the temperature was hovering in the high 20’s, and as they say in the Midwest, “there was frost on the pumpkin”. I think everyone had a good time last night, but I still need to check on what phase the moon was in last night. I also did make my first political donation yesterday, and the thank you letter follows in the community organizers section of this post..

POLITICAL

Even with all my comments about watching Cheney and talking head Bob this morning I forgot to set my TVO this morning and missed it, just because I had to watch that San Diego – Indianapolis finish this morning.

SPORTS

My “toilet bowl” FFB team had a good night last night with that surprising win by San Diego. Now I wait for the Ravens to come through.

Keno, power ball and poker, A liesure activity or sport?

Mary B., take note, I will try to set the post up with a link.

Dear William,

Thank you for your generous contribution to American Rights at Work. Your support is critical to the struggle for workers' rights and to achieving our vision of a country where workers can exercise their democratic right to form a union without being threatened, intimidated, or fired.

We'll continue to keep you updated on our progress and you can always find out the latest on what we're up to at: http://www.americanrightsatwork.org/

Again, thank you for your generosity and for your dedication to working families.

American Rights at Work.

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 7:15am to a 3 after a good 10hrs of sleep. I took my am pills, minus my ½ Blood pressure pill for the second day. I did notice the back deck thermometer was at about 31 degree’s and we now had snow on the grass. The roads looked clear, but the roofs and yards had a little snow. I am in here to post at 3+ and the back deck thermometer is now just above freezing. NWCN is showing Portland above 40 degree’s and Vancouver almost 50. That should bode well for Judi’s (non Birthday) Party and Stephanie’s visit. As much as Judi doesn’t like to do it, she did make it to our local keno purveyor, and my ticket with 4 5’s proved me to be a winner, not just above average. My new ticket has game 777 on it, what do you think?

POLITICAL

While watching the C-span call in show yesterday I was introduced to Mary Beth Maxwell, answering questions about the “Employee Free Choice Act”. She is the national director of the “American Rights at Work” coalition. She was awesome, even when the ditto heads called, Mary B., take note. I want to make that organization my first donation in 2009.

On January 1st I asked the question, "CNN reported today on the “controversy” about Bush 43 not giving up the Blair House for O’bama and making him and his family instead use the Haunted Hotel as a residence before the inauguration. I’m not sure how many times that has happened in the past, but I do know the last time it happened was when Bill Clinton was waiting for his inauguration. Lets see, that was after George the 1st, lost. Who owns Blair house? How much are Hotel rooms going for, to be at the Inauguration? Do we have another, “Lincoln Bedroom” controversy brewing"?

After my search on google, I found out that the US Government purchased it during WWII. Bush 43 and his crony’s have been stealing from the federal government since he came to DC, no reason to think he was going to stop now.

Ron and Jeff, if your still reading. Seat that Burris guy.

SPORTS

It was a rough night for the Blazers last night. It appears that New Orleans can claim the “cheap shot” trophy. They must be so proud!

COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS

Do you suppose there are any “community organizers” staying at the Blair house before the inauguration?

Mary Beth Maxwell is one of my new favorite “Community Organizers”, and American Rights at Work has become one of my top 5 Community Organizations.

OTHER STUFF & OBSERVATIONS

Short blog today as I have a “non BD” party to prepare for.

Remember, Homeland Security is watching, and also an English professor. And soon, maybe, another Media Mogul, I sure hope Rachel does not get po’d. I sure hope my newest “media mogul” reader follows up on my suggestion for his next “investigative report”?
Media Mogul Paul, there is a guy named George Butler that may be taking our story idea and running with it in Vermont.

New Years Resolutions ?

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at about 6:15am to a 3 after a good 10hour sleep. Took my am pills except the ½ blood pressure pill my Dr. said I could stop last week. After 3 sessions in my chair, taking my BP, which was still good, turning on CNBC and CNN to get the latest updates, I am back here to work on my posting at 3+. The talking heads at CNBC were talking about how bad the market was and pointing out some of the new lows hit recently. One of which was Lazy Boy and now might be a good time to buy it. If you have been following my blog, you know my feelings on my Lazy Boy. And, well I’m not a player in the stock market; I too, think it is a good time. My first look today showed we were up to 8850 and needed a 38 point gain to get to the 4-8’s number and when I came in here we had zoomed past it. I sure hope that rain gets here with the warm front, plus 32 degree’s, the rain will wash away the snow and Judi will get her June cake tomorrow, and everyone not traveling next to a river or stream can get to her non-BD party, and I can capitalize on the Markets 4-8’s at the lottery distribution center.

2009 is the year of the BIG O !

PERSONAL

I awoke this morning at 7am to a 2+ after about 7 hours of sleep, took my am pills and had 2 sessions in my chair, and came back here to begin my posting at a 3+. Welcome all to 2009, a new beginning.
Thanks to our “Media Mogul” comedic friend Paul Haaaanson, our gathering last night was a resounding success. I smoked too much, and everyone else drank too much, except Mike of course. We did miss Maria, John and the girls and sisters, brothers, cousins, nephews, nieces and others; I hope you are all recovering well.
I did try to text Jim, who I believe saw the start of 2009 first.
Paul has a video on Tom McCall he is very proud off, and maybe I will be able to make it available to all sometime in the future. I awoke this morning with an Idea for another report for him to do, last night’s gathering felt like a pre production meeting for it.

POLITICAL

Portland’s new Mayor took over today and My good Friend and fellow Board member Judy gets to swear all over the place on Monday at Multnomah County and I have plans to attend one of them any way. They both played the deaf frog very well. BE THE DEAF FROG

For any of you that are unfortunate enough to live in a Right to Work, for less, State; please don’t sign that petition.

Both Oregon and Washington’s minimum wage went up to day (not enough), but those food servers still need good tips so don’t stop.

SPORTS

Those Beavers sure pulled off a thriller yesterday in their Bowl game. 3-0 reminded me of that Dee Andros OSU-SC win of the past.

I did finally get to do the extra FFB series and we will be rooting for San Diego and Buffalo the rest of the way.
