I HAVE ADDED A SPECIAL NEW SECTION: “RELIGION” AND MOVED MUCH TO THERE AND I WILL BE “PHILOSOPHIZING” THERE ALSO.

ANOTHER SPECIAL WELCOME TO ALL OUR 290 MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND THOSE THAT MAY WANT TO BE.

OREGON AND WASHINGTON CONSTRUCTION WORKER ASSISTANCE

I am creating this blog following my Local Unions establishment of a Volunteer Organizing Committee. I will NOT list any contractor that there may be an organizing campaign on which there may be a campaign attempted, but I shall give any person visiting, a listing of what their employer can and cannot do during a campaign, against an employee that wishes to Unionize.

A place where a non-union worker can access the “TRUTH” about what it means to change from being an “exploited” construction worker, to being a Construction professional in their own chosen field.

I may not have all the answers on this blog, but I will attempt to provide a competent place to find them.

I am a second generation and almost 40 year member of the United Association of the Plumber's, Steam and Marine Fitters Local Union 290 here in Portland, Oregon. Our family has over 430 years belonging to this organization. I have served my Local Union as The Vice President, as a Business Agent/Organizer, as the first President of the combined Statewide Union; Local 290 whose geographical jurisdiction ranges North and South from SW Washington to Northern California, and West and East from the Pacific Ocean to Malhuer County in Oregon, and represents over 4,000+- worker's in the Industry. And I served 17 years as Executive/Secretary Treasurer of the Columbia Pacific Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO which is a coalition of Construction Union's in SW Washington and N.W. Oregon that represent close to 12,000 worker's in all facet's of the construction industry.

I will also attempt to provide some background history of the A.F.L.C.I.O., it's structure and department's, and their contributions to our society.

POLITICAL:

I did make a Obama for America Oregon, neighborhood meeting last night at cousin Jim and Frances's home in N. Portland and I must say we have plenty of work to do before the November elections, but I will also say, as a life-long Democrat; it does appear they will have a real coordinated campaign this year.

I will put the prayers I have been posting again right here up front, especially for sister Danni; and thank you all for Rhyon, Christopher and now cousin Amy.

Prayer to St. Jude for Eternal Life

You are my solace, St. Jude, in the face of loss and sorrow. I pray that you will guide my heart away from the darkness of fear and into the light of Christ. May the hope that St. Jude keeps alive in my heart be a source of comfort to all those who grieve. For in that hope, we know God's mercy, and we trust God's promise of eternal life. I BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST WAS THE FIRST “TRUE” COMMUNIST, BECAUSE I BELIEVE HE WAS THE FIRST TO SAY; EVERYTHING “BELONGS” TO EVERYONE.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS & CHARITIES:

The American Rights at Work still needs help; now more than ever. We must not take our eye off that MAIN issue, The President?, and our two Senators haven't; E.F.C.A. And based on what I have been seeing and hearing, the Republicans have Organized Labor directly in their cross hairs at least for the next 2 years.

You can help by joining her team or even with just a donation, PLEASE DO, see the link below and/or on the side !

The Local 290 “DON SALEE” Member Assistance Program; and you can even make a donation through the U.A. Credit Union, and we will be doing a “BULL SESSION” drawing at the Union meeting's to help raise $ for them and I have sent in my 1^st installment for me, and I sure hope we get some good weather so I can actually attend with an official, established handicap.





UNION REPORT:



I did notice I had more visit's on May 26^th, the day I officially changed my blog for organizing. Also you should be getting your question's ready for the 290 P.A.C. questionnaire.



There will be a special memorial Mass and celebration of life for brother Bill Goettsch this Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie at 5:30pm, it is with great regret that I must say I will not be able to make it.



The Volunteer Organizing Committee meeting is 6pm Monday June 4th, Hope to see you there.



I DID THINK 290 COULD HAVE DONE BETTER ON THE REQUEST FOR DENISE HUTZENBIELER, http://www.epilepsynw.org/ ; AND I WISH THE PACWEST REPORT WOULD HAVE INCLUDED SOME OF THE LOCAL RACES.



We need to remember Brother Jimmy Walters, Brother Bill Edens (who looked pretty good at the retiree meeting); and Brother Sonny Newsom who are recovering from surgeries and Brother Jim Zettlow who is fighting Mesothelioma, so please add them to your prayers for a speedy and successful recoveries.

PERSONAL & PROPAGANDA:

I will continue my bragging. I received an email from my cousin Dan Hutzenbieler, who was at a Labor Law Conference in Chicago and met good friend, IBEW Sister, and Secretary Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Liz Shuler; whom you may notice is one of the “W.O.W.” women I have on my front page.

I slept in this morning until 8:15am awoke to a 3 after 9+- hours of sleep and took my pills at 8:30am.
